!±8± Home Remedies for Infant Constipation

There are many things that can happen to your child and as a new parent, it is extremely stressful and can take a toll on your nerves. Everything becomes about your child and all the focus is to keep them healthy. There are common things that happen to most babies that most parents are not informed about on handling such as constipation, ear infections, etc. One of the most common problems is the constipation issue and many parent do not have the correct education and research done to know how to properly handle the issue.

A big misconception about infant constipation is that being constipated is about the frequency of bowel movements and passing. The real situation of constipation in infants is when the releases are dry and hard. Common signs to see if your child is constipated is if they are screaming and crying when passing a bowel movement and there is obvious sign of pain and frustration. Another serious sign is if there is blood in the stool of the baby. That is a serious sign and needs immediate attention from a doctor and pediatrician.

The most common home remedy for infant constipation is to give warm water with small amounts of sugar. Sweetened warm water makes the stools more moist which makes the passing of them very less irritating and easier on the baby. It is important to give very small amounts of sugar because too much can cause a dependency by the baby and it is generally not good to give large amounts of sugar.

Another good way to treat infant constipation is to add more fruits and vegetables into the babies diet. If the baby is not up to the point to give solid foods, there are many companies that make fruit and vegetable baby foods which is beneficial because they are enhanced with nutrients and also have included probiotics.

Probiotics are a type of cell bacteria which is commonly found in foods, but there is not a large amount in natural foods. Therefore, it is best to supplement probiotics. Probiotics are great for infants and young children as well as adults, but it is best to give them to your baby from a young age before it has been proven to build up the immune system as well as the digestive system. It is great to prevent constipation, eczema, and ear infections, but not limited to those only.
